Using Ovulation Kits

by Melissa
(Irvine, CA USA)

I got my first period after having my daughter, and I want to get pregnant again. She is now 14 months and only breastfeeds about once a day. I have been using OPK (ovulation predictor kits) for about four days now. My period was March 27th and I should be ovulating about now. When should I expect to ovulate? and should I just keep using the OPK every day?

Every Cycle is Different NEW
by: Sally

Every cycle is different. Until you're familiar with your cycles and when you typically ovulate, it's best to use the OPK's starting at about day 10 and then go until they show a positive.

My cycles could vary wildly some months, with me ovulating some months on day 13 and then other months on day 16. There are a lot of factors that can cause changes such as stress or less sleep.

I would advise using basal temperature charting as well so you can have at least two methods for knowing when you ovulate. These basal temperatures go up after ovulation, so you can't use it to know BEFOREHAND, but you can use it to know when you have ovulated AFTER the fact.
