Pregnancy After Birth Control

by Anonymous
(Calgary)

My husband and I have been off birth control since December, and I have had only 1 period since then in February. Am I normal? When should I worry if it doesn't come? My doctor thinks that I may be not ovulating properly, if at all. He has given us Clomid to conceive, but we have not taken it yet. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

Normal After BCP
by: Sally

It is normal for your periods to be off after coming off birth control pills. They are hormones and can really get a woman's hormones out of balance. You didn't say how long you had been on birth control. The longer you've been on it, the more difficulties you could face.

You may not be ovulating properly, but that would be because your hormones are still unbalanced.

I would suggest trying to detox as much as possible by eating lots of fruits and vegetables and drinking a lot of filtered water.

Personally, I think Clomid is premature. There are other natural alternatives to Clomid, including vitex, that can help you ovulate.

You can read more about vitex here.
