Miscarriage and a Puppy's Love

by Mala

Mommy and Mia!

Mommy and Mia!

About two weeks before I found out I was pregnant, my husband and I adopted a 2-month-old Australian/German Shepherd mix puppy. I love animals, especially dogs, a great deal, but I had no idea how much this little blessing would change my life. A month after adopting her, I had my miscarriage. I didn't know how I was going to get up and go to work, or how I would even get out of a bed. Taking care of my puppy was about the only thing I did. Her unconditional love and absolute devotion took the pain out of my heart in a way I didn't think possible. Her bright eyes, the constant smile, the sweet little kisses; it all worked! I still feel the pain from losing a child, but I've come to terms with it as a part of life, and when it's the right time, I will be blessed with a beautiful child to share my love with. Love isn't love till you give it away, and I wish each and every one of you a chance at giving a child the love that I know is in each woman's heart! =)

Thank you for sharing your experience, Mala! What a wonderful story of the power of unconditional love of animals. Truly they can sense when we need extra care, and they are able to bring healing when nothing else can.
