Can I Get Pregnant at 45?

I am a 45-year-old healthy female who has never been pregnant. I have a history of normal Pap smears and am not in perimenopause yet. My husband and I are thinking of having his vasectomy reversed. Is there anything I need to have checked that would not have shown up on a normal exam before we go through with a reversal? Or, because of my age, should we just consider in vitro if he is still vital?

Pregnancy at 45 is Possible

Pregnancy at 45 is definitely possible. If you haven't already, I would get an FSH test done. This will tell you if you are in perimenopause or not. I also highly recommend taking maca supplement (for you and your husband) to help increase your chances of pregnancy. Maca is know to help improve egg quality, which is vital for women over 35 trying to get pregnant. (Read more about maca here.)

45 and pregnant

I started TTC just before my 44th birthday (no previous children). In the following 12 months I had one chemical pregnancy, one miscarriage at 7 weeks, and am now 20 weeks pregnant! I had no idea if I was fertile or not and never saw a doctor prior to trying. Maybe we were lucky, I don't know, but it looks like a go for us. So yes it is possible!

Yes, it is possible. My hubby and I are trying for number 5 and we're 45 yrs old. We're trying to conceive naturally, but if we don't, we're fine with that. Hey, we already have four, so we don't feel the need to spend the extra money. We are hoping that God blesses us with a healthy baby at our age and know that all things are possible if we just have the faith. I'm claiming a healthy baby in June 2012 and you can 2! Amen!
